Ozone Laundry & Dishwashing Benefits
 

In general there are two areas of benefits/savings. They consist of Hard savings and Soft savings. The Hard savings are where we can determine an actual cash amount quite readily that has been due to the proper application of Ozone to the wash formula. The Soft savings are in areas that show from a long term study.

Safety − PLC control monitors wash machine functions and shuts Ozone generators when drains are open or when generator is operating continuously for over thirty (30) minutes.

HARD SAVINGS

1 – Water Savings - 30% Reduction of water consumption through reduced wash formulas.
2 – Heating Fuel - 70 to 80% Reduction of wash temperatures on all formulas due to Ozone keeping chemicals active (oxygen) throughout the formula.
3 – Production Time – 20 to 25% reduction based on reduced wash formula programs.
4 – Chemical Savings – 25 to 30% Reduction due to regeneration of chemistry.

SOFT SAVINGS

1. Linen Savings - Replacement of linen greatly reduced. Some linen life extended by a factor of 2 – 3 based on reduced wash time, reduced chemical activity and the Ozone working as an anti-chlor in the wash cycles after the bleach bath.

2. Reduced Dryer Fuel – Ozone makes the water slicker through chemical action on
   contaminants and allows for the water to extract off the linen at a better rate.

3. Maintenance savings – Maintenance time is reduced due to reduced running of the equipment. Motors, shafts bearings and such breakdown less often.

4. Maintenance Savings – Lint developed through the wash process is greatly reduced. Lint collectors fill up less frequently providing improved dry time and reduced maintenance.

5. Equipment Replacement – By reducing formulas by approximately 25% the replacement cycle of the laundry machinery is extended, costs reduced.

6. Operating Environment Improved – Through the reduction in the use of Hot water for the wash cycle the work environment is improved. You have lower room temperatures and reduced moisture levels in the air.

7. Softer Linen for Guest Comfort – By reducing chemical use we eliminate residual inactive chemistry staying resident in the fabric. With this process we have basically eliminated bed sores on patients in Nursing facilities.

8. Odour Elimination – Ozone is valuable in odour removal from the air or from fabrics. This provides a more pleasant fabric for guest comfort to be odour free.

9. Improved Ironing / Finishing – because the residual chemistry is eliminated there is a better affinity for starch when used on table linen. Starch use is reduced. Softeners are reduced because the fabric returns to it’s natural softness.

10. Waste Water – Improved waste water conditions, removes or reduces alkali as in wash chemical or chlorine bleach. Improves discharge through Oxygen (Ozone) for improved BOD, COD, FOG contamination reduction.

11. Waste Water – Reduces or eliminates waste water odour.

12. Waste Water – Improves on operation of most waste water treatment systems through pre-flocking of solids for quicker more efficient removal.

13. Waste Water – Reduces chemical levels required for waste treatment operation for DAF or Membrane systems. (Dissolved Air Flotation)

Ozone is also a quick and effective oxidizer when added to the break wash cycle to remove the soil that is held by the alkali and detergents.
